But why have they just killed it?? Why haven't they plundered their archives and offered it for sale (maybe) online. Also....Mention 'Pan's People' to any Brit and an image of their father watching TV with a content smile will come to mind.

Wow, that is unbelievable. I have no idea why they would cancel something with so much cultural equity. Surely there was some opportunity to re-imagine top of the pops? What a shame, I used to love that show, although I haven't watched it since i've been in the states for 15 years now.
What the hell is the UK going to do at Christmas time without top of the pops and the Christmas number 1 :-)

Casey Kasem hasn't retired. He still hosts American Top 10 and American Top 20.

Casey Kasem has such a unique radio voice... it's amazing that he still sounded so young at the age of 77
