Introducing GeekDad

Those of you hoping for more robotics, Lego, drones and other incredibly geeky stuff from me and some likeminded souls will be delighted to hear that we've just launched GeekDad as an official Wired group blog. For a sampler, check out Kevin Kelly's awesome post about the dad who tested the theory of relativity in his minivan

Our mission: "Cool toys and fun projects you and your kids do together."

Those of you hoping for less of the above and more themes around the Long Tail and my next book TBA will also be delighted by this news, as it means that we'll be returning to our irregularly scheduled programming here soon. I'll probably crosspost a few more geek dad items, and then fork my projects cleanly.

We'll be looking for additional authors for GeekDad soon, so ping me with a link or two to what you're doing if you'd like to be considered.

Perfection!

Very nice. I'm always interested in something that a parent can really enjoy doing with their kid! And if you're into finding music that your kids like (and you will like as well. . .this isn't The Wiggles), I just wrote about a band on my blog that covers all the good stuff! Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, and so on.

thats so interesting!
Thank u,it's really helpful for us,u know it's always boring to bring the kids

This is a great idea. Thanks for getting this started and posting about it here. I’m definitely going to check out the cross-generational music. I’ve suffered through some Wiggles and Barney in my time, and I would love something that turned the tables a little. I wonder as well if anyone has posted on “geek” books that might have interest for both parents and children. Obviously there are things like The Hobbit, and Harry Potter. But does anyone know of any good books that aren’t currently on the radar, things that everyone in the Universe doesn’t already know about? Also, for anyone in the Atlanta area, the Dragon-Con is coming up over Labor Day, and it’s a great place to take your kids. There’s even a parade the first day with an entire battalion of marching storm troopers.
