Has anyone done a study of P2P data as it relates to the long tail, as opposed to digital sales? It would be really interesting to see how those results compare to the data from Rhapsody, Quickflix, and other paid services.

My hunch is that P2P use would be more tail-intensive, at least for music consumption, as the P2P demographic is probably younger and less mass-media-focused than the demographic that purchases music through Rhapsody or iTunes. If there is a statistically significant difference, that would show an increasing preference for long tail content, as P2P users tend to be younger and such services could become legitimized under schemes such as the ISP tax under consideration in the UK.
