Long Tail Libations

Last year I mentioned that after my book came out, Anheuser-Busch created a division, called Long Tail Libations, to sell niche brews. While digging around for imagery for a presentation, I happened to stumble on its website and logo. Not bad!

I would love to see you tackle a piece on the "long tail" of wine at some point!

Like never before, technology and changing beverage laws are letting Americans access small production wines in the long tail of wine from all over the world!

In our own biz for instance, we imported wine from a tiny producer on the coastal plains of Israel (whose backyard IS the vineyard - literally!)and placed it on a posh Beverly Hills hotel's by-the-glass list.

Crazy!

The long tail of wine (of anything, really!) is longer and richer than anyone can imagine!

Chris,

You will come to Belgium (Antwerp) soon, home of AB's mother company Inbev. Time to check out the 300+ beer brands there? For the longest tail...(hum Billy Joel melody) :)

Whereas Inbev has been fighting for mass market dominance for tens of years, each of the 300+ smaller (and often literally stronger) beer brands serve their niche perfectly. Get a feel on
